Currently, SRCF extends grants to eight charities. To be considered and to remain an approved SRCF charity, the enterprise must be a 501(c)(3) organization under the Federal Tax Code, and must operate in Lee and Collier Counties, Florida. All grant monies must be used in Lee and Collier Counties, Florida. Charities meeting the above criteria must provide the following:

  • Legal name of organization
  • Listing of governance members
  • Mission Statement
  • NFP tax ID
  • Listing of any paid employees
  • Income and expense statements
  • Services provided to targeted audiences
  • Annual budget for past two years
  • Budget for the upcoming year
  • Fund raising activities including other funding supporters
  • Any other information they choose to provide.

Once all the information has been received, the SRCF Board of Directors interviews the Director/President of the organization to determine if there is a good fit. One question SRCF ask potential charities is “What is the percentage of overhead/operating expenses, including salaries, for your organization?” SRCF does not accept charities whose overhead/operating expenses are over 10 percent. We also re-vet our charities every two years to assure our grant dollars are used according to our criteria.

Traditionally, SRCF conducted a formal Check Presentation at the clubhouse. Last season we elected to present grant checks at the location selected by each charity. The presentations were filmed and are available for our donors to view at https://springruncharity.org/2025-grants. When we visited our charities, we learned a great deal about their clients and operations. We were overwhelmed by how effective they are in achieving their mission and by the impact they have in the community. We also learned that SRCF needs to re-examine our annual reporting and investigate publishing an impact document to further inform our members, donors, and sponsors of the effectiveness of our work.

In addition to fund raising for our charities, we provide scholarship money for educational expenses for the employees of Spring Run Golf Club, or the dependents of an employee aged 26 or younger. https://springruncharity.org/scholarship-fund. Shortly after Hurricane Ian, SRCF created a Disaster Relief Fund for Employees which permanently and exclusively dedicates support for all SRGC employees in need of help in the wake of federally declared disaster. Members of the SRCF Disaster Relief Fund for Employee Committee worked cooperatively with the Spring Run Employee/Member Relations Committee to aid employees effected by a disaster and not to duplicate services. https://www.springrun.com/governance/employeemember-relations-committee.

SRCF thanks all members who participated in our survey. CONGRATULATIONS to Helen Johnson, Jeanne Quinlan and Dominic Percoco for winning $50.00 gift cards in our Survey Participation Drawing!
