THE MULTIPLIER EFFECT OF DONATIONS
Spring Run Charitable Foundation makes gifts or grants to vetted charitable organizations in Lee and Collier Countries, Florida through the generous donations of our golf community. Your donation dollars have a multiplier effect because SRCF charities focus on boosting their organizational efficiency and effectiveness, by working and networking with each other to pursue and achieve different solutions to a problem or situation. Collaborating, coordinating and cooperating with each other, leverages their own efforts and also broadens a system of change locally, as we learned in last edition of NOTR through Abigail. (Click to read Abigail’s story.) Abigail’s story tells how organizations link a variety of issues into a comprehensive framework. Collective impact and networked-based approaches often guide their efforts for positive result.
SRCF Charities routinely engage in cooperative arrangements to increase organizational efficiency and effectiveness. Cooperation consists of relationships based around an exchange of tangible and intangible assets. Tony Mansolillo of Feed Thy Neighbor, fed one wheelchair bound lady in need of a meal and, by the end of the week, he served an additional 21 homeless people out of his kitchen. Today, he cooks for over 500 in a kitchen provided by St. Monica’s Episcopal Church and utilizes food donated by Harry Chapin Food Bank.
Collaboration and coordination require a greater degree of commitment, time, and resources. Organizational efficiency and effectiveness concepts provides a platform for charities to join forces and provide a strong unified commitment for those in need. Ana’s Friends’, serves abused, neglected and abandoned children in Southwest Florida, and strives to provide a semblance of normalcy for foster children. This charity coordinates with New Horizons which serves foster children and other under-resourced students by providing tutoring, mentoring and character-building programs at their 10 locations across Collier and Lee Counties. Ana’s Friend’s and New Horizons collaborates with Laces of Love, to provide brand new footwear for children each serve. Harry Chapin Food Bank provides meals and snacks for numerous foster families, resourced families and the students of New Horizons. Interfaith Charities of South Lee collaborates with all the mentioned charities identifying and helping those in need with drive-thru food pantries, free summer lunch program for kids under 19, free notary services, and utility bill, income tax, SNAP and Medicaid registration assistance.
Together they have created a network that helps achieve the goal of client stability. The complexity and magnitude of the social, political, and economic challenges facing our twenty-first-century world are at unprecedented levels and our Charities cannot tackled these challenges alone. By combining forces, they can accomplish greater things, but it is not enough.
Spring Run Charitable Foundation charities need support. Each season, your contributions help our charities achieve their goals.
